Why Young Life is Sending Me
There are 650 million people worldwide with a disability, with the highest rates of homelessness, unemployment, abuse, & suicide worldwide. Only 5- 10% of the world’s disabled are effectively reached with the gospel, comprising one of the largest unreached people groups in the world.
Millions of teenagers with disabilities are living throughout Latin America and Young Life believes that it is a part of God’s mission to reach them with the gospel… and they are sending me to develop Capernaum, our ministry to teens with disabilities. Lima will be my base and I will travel throughout Latin America to equip, encourage, train, & develop nationals who will lead these ministries in their own countries!
Currently we have Capernaum clubs where kids laugh, sing, & hear about Jesus and campaigner discipleship groups in Peru, the Dominican Republic, and Costa Rica. The plan is to add a new Capernaum ministry to countries that already have established Young Life traditional ministries.
This is an opportunity to be a part of changing nations by simply bringing them resources, education, training, encouragement, and teams of North Americans who will partner with them from time to time to share in the work God is doing. We will bring back to the North America stories of God’s work, His people, and Kingdom lessons learned from the lives of these people throughout Latin America!
Will you “come” with me?
